Putney Embankment

Formed in 1911, Putney Town Regatta is an annual rowing regatta that takes place on the River Thames during May. The races are held over a course of approximately 1200m between the Mile Post (Fulham) and the Ranelagh Sailing Club Flag Mast.

We are sorry to have to announce that the 2021 regatta has been cancelled.

LATEST NEWS ABOUT THE 2021 REGATTA:-

26/03/21 - 2021 Regatta - CANCELLED.

Message from the Regatta Committee.

The Regatta Committee met last night (25th March), and regretfully concluded that, under the prevailing Covid-19 restrictions and the latest version of the roadmap out of lockdown, it is not feasible to hold a Regatta on the planned date this year, Saturday 15th May. Inter alia, the amount of effort that would be required to ensure a safe event for competitors, support staff and officials – whilst ensuring guaranteed public access to the Embankment – was felt to be disproportionate. The Committee was, further, not convinced that there would be sufficient crews of a competitive standard available by mid-May.

The possibility has been raised of a Private Match for clubs located between Hammersmith and Putney Bridges, on or about the Regatta date. This requires the Clubs to organise themselves – collect and match-up entries, schedule races and so on, but the list of Regatta contacts would be available to help with the recruitment of Umpires and other officials (ideally, all or most from the participating Clubs). The British Rowing requirements for a Private Match under Covid regulations are set out in:- British Rowing Competition COVID-Secure Checklist Version 1: Published 16 September 2020 which is available through a link in the BR Covid guide.

The Regatta Chairman, Tony Reynolds (07734 157644 : tony.reynolds@eliteitsolutions.org.uk) can provide relevant links and contact details.

We look forward to seeing you at the regatta in 2022.
